DMO Conference in Iringa, 2005
The 3rd Annual DMOs Conference was conducted in Iringa from 7th to 11th of November 2005. The theme was “Experiences in implementing Comprehensive Council Health Plans: towards meeting Millennium Development Goals. The meeting was attended by all District Medical Officer, representatives from MoH and PORALG as well as development partners. A report from the Conference will be available as soon as possible.

RMO Conference in Mtwara Region, 2005
The Regional Medical Officer (RMO) Conference has taken place in Mtwara Region from 1st to 5th of August. The MoH Annual Report 2004 - Ripoti ya Huduma za Afya 2004 (June 2005) will be presented (available for download here or under MoH Policies and Guidelines - Report and Studies).

Meeting for 40 Inagurated Health Service Boards

Joint Rehabilitation Fund
A Joint Rehabilitation Fund (JRF) for rehabilitation of primary health care facilities (dispensaries and health centres) has been established. The fund will cover emergency repairs at facility level and the councils will receive funds on a rolling basis based on certain criteria. Over a period all councils are expected to receive support.

Resource Allocation Formula
In 2004/05 a new formula for distribution of health block grant and health basket was developed. The new formula aims to redirect resources to the main priorities in the health sector and to improve health care provision. The allocation formula applied to the health block grant and to the health basket distributes are based on four allocation factors: Population (70 %) Poverty count (10 %) District vehicle route (10%) Under-five mortality (10%) More information can be found in these documents :
